Gabion Mats for Slope Erosion Control: How to Plan Coverage and Installation

The product itself is easy to specify. The harder part is deciding how the mats should cover the slope.
Step 1.Divide a Large Slope Into Manageable Sections
The protected surface can be divided into sections according to the site's width, length and installation sequence.

2 × 1 × 0.3 m/3 × 1 × 0.3 m/4 × 1 × 0.3 m
Custom lengths and dimensions can also be discussed when the standard sizes do not fit the project layout.
Step 2.Consider the Lower Edge Carefully
The bottom of a protected slope often deserves particular attention because runoff can collect or concentrate there.
Depending on the project design, contractors may extend the mat coverage toward the lower edge or provide additional protection in areas exposed to stronger water movement.
Step 3.Choose the Wire and Coating for the Site
Our Gabion Mats feature double‑twisted hexagonal mesh, with standard openings of 80×100 mm or 100×120 mm.
Wire diameter ranges from 2.0 mm to 3.9 mm, and reinforced heavier edge wire is optional.
For outdoor slopes exposed to rain and moisture, galvanized or Galfan-coated wire can be selected. PVC-coated options are also available where additional environmental protection is required.
The mesh specification should be selected together with the stone size so the filling remains properly contained.
