Gabion Baskets for Railway Embankment Retaining Walls
A railway embankment has a simple job: keep the track at the required elevation.
The difficult part starts when the ground beside it is steep, eroded, or carrying additional fill.
In mountain railway projects, engineers may need a retaining structure along selected sections of the embankment. Gabion Baskets can be one option when a stone-filled gravity structure suits the site.
Why Use Gabion Baskets Along an Embankment?
Gabion Baskets combine wire mesh cages with stone filling to create a substantial retaining structure.
Their modular format is useful when the required wall follows the railway alignment rather than a simple rectangular building site.
Instead of ordering one large structure, the basket arrangement can be configured according to the required length, height, and site geometry.
Stone Becomes Part of the Structure
Our configurations include 80×100 mm and 100×120 mm mesh, with galvanized, Galfan, and PVC-coated options.
The selected mesh should be compatible with the available stone size. For larger retaining sections, basket dimensions and internal diaphragms can also be configured according to project requirements.
If you need a retaining structure for a railway embankment, send us your wall dimensions and available stone size for a Gabion Basket recommendation and quotation.
